I am excited to start this new venture and added services for Semi-Permanent Makeup and Microblading. I wanted to break down some Frequently Asked Questions to get you all ready for these new services.
What is Semi-Permanent Makeup?
A complexion treatment to enhance eyes, brows and lips to add definition to the face. This technique involves injecting pigment through a fine vibrating needle into the most superficial layers of the skin.
What is Microblading?
A form of semi-permanent tattooing that involves using tiny, fine-point needles (instead of a tattoo gun) that make up a small disposable blade and handle (think: a very small rat-tail comb-looking tool) that helps scratch and deposit pigment simultaneously under your skin.
Does it hurt?
It doesn't hurt as such, it is more a sensation. The process itself is not painful thanks to the numbing ointment that is applied. It's sometimes the sound of the blade which people find worse – a small scratching sound.
Do you use numbing cream?
Ye, before a Microblading treatment, the numbing cream can be applied directly to the eyebrow area with a Q-tip and left on for 15-20 minutes.
How long does it take?
For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 2.5-3 hours. During this session, I will shape and style the client’s brows for client approval. After your first session, you will be required to come in for a second session or "touch up," 4-6 weeks after the first session. Typically that appointment will take 1.5-2 hours.
How long does it last?
Microblading typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), and age (youthful/mature). However, to maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up is suggested every 12-18 months.
Do you have to be licensed to perform Microblading?
Unfortunately, in Florida, you do not have to be a Licensed Esthetician to obtain a certification in Microblading. All that is required is a tattoo license and pass a blood-borne pathogens test.
What does this mean for you?
Make sure that you do your research and go to someone who is not only a Licensed Esthetician but also insured. Luckily for you, I have been a Licensed and Insured Esthetician for 5 years in Florida. Rest assured that I know and understand the skin, state laws and practice high standards of sanitation. I will also be taking an 80hr course vs a 2 day (6-8hr) course. This will give me a full and thorough understanding and skill for semi-permanent makeup and Microblading.
How much does it cost?
The cost of Microblading is pricey. And believe me you get what you pay for. In this instance cheap is NOT the way to go. However, the average cost for Microblading is $350-$800. Some places/people include the second session or touch up with the initial price, others don't. If you are not willing to invest into a good treatment, just don't. I have not finalized any pricing for City Escape Spa, as I am going to wait until after I am certified.
What makes it so expensive?
There's an added cost to the service provider for insurance, supplies and licensing. I have to attain an establishment license for the salon, liability insurance and my own individual license. I am committed to only providing you with the best products and safety. Not to mention the procedure on average is 2.5-3 hours. Time is money.
If you have any more questions or would like to become a model while I attain my certification don't hesitate to call me 407-403-9549. I look forward to adding these services to my menu. We are estimating around August/September.
